I have dedicated this year to exploring different exercise workouts and this is one of the reviews. Today’s review is on Bounce Fit brought to you by Bounce inc South Africa. This has been my family for the past 2 months and I feel right at home. It’s actually going to be extremely hard to move to the next fitness review.
So you would think jumping on a trampoline is easy right. I mean it’s not rocket science and should not require much effort. We all did it at some point in our lives, no training required. I went into my first class as confident as Hercules, Wonder Woman had nothing on me I tell you. My outfit was on point (looking all cute with matching towel and water bottle). In walked this young well toned instructor and I thought, ncooh, so cute like my son. This is going to be fun.
Class started with 5 minutes of warm up. If I didn’t have my phone with me, I’d have sworn that it was 30 minutes. Everything went downhill from that point on. I was panting and starting to sweat. As I was downing that water just after 10 minutes (embarrassing I know), I thought to myself ‘Hey this is really not so bad. All we’ll be doing is jumping for the next 45 min’. I shouldn’t have. Just as I was getting the hang of jumping without falling on my buttocks, the instructor brought out stretch bands. I actually laughed out loud because I thought can’t be real. We spent the next 15 minutes working on glutes and thighs, while jumping. At this point I was praying to just survive a couple of jumps without falling. He then whips out the balls and we worked on abs and arms. By the time we were stretching I was soaking wet. The funny thing is I fell more than pulling off the exercises, but I had burned so many calories.
I may have thought of quitting once or twice, but what would be the fun in that. I am extremely competitive. If that older mom in class can do it, so can I. I went home with a tail between my legs. My first thoughts when I woke up the next day was, ‘I want more, I’m going back’.
What I loved
1. Balance and posture
I fell so much through my first lesson, I couldn’t center myself and even landing was a nightmare. By end of the week I could use a skipping rope while jumping. The improvement was immense and noticeable on daily basis. My back pains were reduced and I’d like to think that its due to my posture improvement.
2. FUN, FUN, FUN
On a scale from 1-10, I’d give it an 11. This is by far the most fun I’ve had whilst shedding off weight. It’s fun to jump, to feel young again, to master some techniques, even falling is fun. What I loved most about our class was the support from those who’ve been long time members. We all laugh and encourage each other. The fact that we all look at each other promotes team work.
3. Overall Body Workout
I always measure a workout based on how sore my body is. With running it will be just my legs. With trampoline exercise your entire body will be sore. I felt tingles in places I didn’t know existed. It’s a great way of toning your entire body and ultimately, that’s all we want.
4. Burning Calories
I initially underestimated the entire workout, with absolutely no expectations to break a sweat. It made sense when I checked how many calories one can burn in a class. Simply put, You can burn up to 100 calories for every 10 minutes you are doing aerobics on the trampoline. A class entails an intense 50 minutes non stop workout, followed by cooling and stretching. One can therefore burn 500 calories.
5. Muscle Strengthening
After 6 weeks my body was quite well toned and visibly less cellulite. I felt so much more stronger from all those resistance exercises. My things are firmer and that’s every girls dream right there.
What I hated
I really don’t have a single negative thing to say about Bounce Fitness. The classes were amazing, the energy, the unity, it really is well worth it. If you have a weak immune system like mine though, you’d want to wear long sleeves and stock on your vitamins. For obvious reasons, Bounce inc. always has the air conditioner on.
