Have you tried going on Running Date?

Running Date

This past Friday we spontaneously decided to go on a Running date night with a twist.  To be honest, I didn’t think my husband would be game. For one he is more into swimming than running. Also, he is a procrastinator of note. I love him to bits however he is the type you don’t tell about something now. Especially running. Alas, the gods where with me. We packs our headlights and drove all the way to Benoni to do this thing.

Trail Run

Our biggest motivator is always Vitality. If you are a Discovery vitality member you’d definitely know how we live for point.   We arrived at  Grasslands, a small park with water slides and pools. As we registered with trail adventure we were asked the distance we’d like to run. I was thinking 5 km, the husband quickly shouted 10 km. Everything suddenly got real. I remember switching on the lights and thinking ‘Easy Peasy’.However, I may have been wrong. I was not prepared for what nature had to bring. It was a rocky, roughened and course route which was at times quite dark. At some point I acted like our American friends, thinking a lion might just appear in front of us. There were times I wanted to walk back, but where to? The only thing to do is put one foot in front of the other. Just keep running.

The Benefits

The best part of the run was the conversations along the way. After 10 years with someone you still realise there are some things you don’t know. We shared a lot of laughs. He became my protector and motivator, things we take for granted when you are married. I can honestly say this was one of the best dates I’ve ever been on. We came out stronger and the entire experience brought us closer together.
