I was privileged to be invited to a greet and meet with Farnaz Esnaashari-Charmatz. She is the creator of Shimmer and Shine, Nickelodeon’s hit animated preschool series. Esnaashari-Charmatz’s journey with Nickelodeon started with an internship while in college. After graduating, she was determined to work for the network that gave her her start. She set off learning all she could about animation and preschool at Nickelodeon Animation Studio in Burbank, California, USA.
Over the last ten years, Esnaashari-Charmatz served as the post-production supervisor on a number of Nickelodeon preschool series including Dora the Explorer, Go Diego, Go! and Ni Hao, Kai-lan. Her knowledge and understanding of how to “fix it in post”, combined with her years of art training and creativity, led her to where she is today.
Esnaashari-Charmatz graduated from California State University of Fullerton with a Bachelor’s Degree in Entertainment Art.
She currently resides in Los Angeles and has a built-in pre-school audience of two children (who are devoted Shimmer and Shine fans) at home.
Set in a hidden tranquil side of Montecasino, the chosen venue was absolutely perfect. I loved the set-up, and the food was totally devine. The staff was so accommodating (decided to cut carbs and sugar for Lent). Our host was the beautiful Sureshnie Rider. I am a huge fan, so I might have expressed some groupie tendencies there. Who can blame me though, I was next to ‘The mom of terror” from 5fm.
Don’t forget to view Shimmer and Shine daily on NickJnr (channel 307 on DStv) at 07:35am, 15:30pm 19:35pm. Your kids will absolutely love it.
