A letter to my daughter | 14th Birthday

Letter do daughter: You can always count on me

Whatever you do and say, I am here to stay. Writing this letter to you, my dear daughter, I would want you to know certain things in life. Since everything you do and say will have an impact on your life directly or indirectly, I am writing this letter to help you make the right decisions in life. With God giving us free will, you have yours too but be assured to choose everything in life wisely rather out of mere passion or craze. The world is giving in to peer pressure but I urge you to stay strong and not give in to peer pressure, as I will always have your back no matter what. There are things to teach you that I would rather write than say as this letter will be there for you even when I’m away. Hold on tight my little one and read this wise, as every step of yours will be a matter of your choice.

Carry GOD with you, always

I love the way your heart for God comes first, the way that you stand strong in the face of what the world throws at you. I love the way that even when your heart breaks, you hold on to the fact that sometimes doing the right thing makes you feel left out and left behind but oh, my girl…how God in Heaven smiles with pride when He sees His daughter’s faith. How He loves the woman you’re becoming. I know for sure that you are on the right track.

Love your body

Take care of your body, it is the only one you have.  Learn from your mothers lifestyle, give your body the proper fitness and nutrition that will fuel you for success.  Even when I’m not there, remember our park runs, our hikes, the gym sessions and absorbing energy from sunlight. And remember no matter the shape or size, you are perfect the way you are. Your peers are telling you are too skinny, that you need to eat a burger or two. But we both know that even if you ate 3 burgers, it wouldn’t change your beautiful body. Don’t let anyone make you feel insecure about your body. You are P.E.R.F.E.C.T.

Don’t ever settle for second best

Don’t ever give your self-respect away. No boy is worth losing your self for. Here is the catch: you are in control of how much these pressures play in your life and how much you will allow them to direct the path you are on. Think for yourself. Trust your intuition. You are smart and you know what’s right – let that be what guides you. No boy or girl deserves to control, influence direct how you should live your life. If he can’t wait, he is not worth it. You will always find the one who understands you, supports you and is willing to wait for you to be ready.

Happy 14th Birthday my Darling. I am, and always will be proud of you.

Your loving mama
